Product Description
Built around a solid and well-specified receiver, the HT-S7200 has earned its place at the top of Onkyo’s 2009 range of receiver/speaker packages. With five HDMI™ 1.3a inputs, the receiver is fully equipped to handle multiple sources carrying high-def 1080p video and HD audio from Dolby and DTS. The system also handles Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which adds a spacious new vertical dimension to movie and game soundtracks. Connected component- or composite-video sources can be upscaled to 1080i and deinterlaced via Faroudja DCDi Edge™ to eliminate unwanted artifacts. Meanwhile, sophisticated Audyssey technologies work to optimize volume levels and adjust the sound stage to suit your room’s acoustics. Further convenience is provided by a Universal Port, which enables one-cable connection of the included Dock for the iPod or Onkyo’s optional HD Radio™ tuner. The highlight of the well-balanced speaker package is a pair of floor-standing, dual-drive tallboys that deliver a fuller mid-range while making a sleek visual statement.

03|Feb|2010 1Good product but the receiver runs extremely hot - you can cook with it (I am not kidding…) The sound is awesome, upscaling is good too - I have my Wii and an old vcr connected to it. It makes the picture look even with these sources…
The iPod integration is sub-par - the menus/song names don’t appear on the screen, making the integration almost useless!! While you can use the Onkyo remote to changes songs, albums, et al, but you need to go close to the iPod to do so (unless you have the ability to read the iPod menus on the iPod from 10-12 feet).
If the product didn’t include (the useless) iPod support and reduced the price, I would have rated it 5 stars.

03|Feb|2010 3Even after reading all the reviews and researching tons of other HTIBs and separates, I couldn’t find a better deal with the quality of an Onkyo receiver….I was skeptic about the speaker quality. Now that I have received everything, unpackaged it (packed well by the way), connected everything, optimized the speakers…WOW! I am no longer skeptic and an advocate for this system. Very impressive sound quality, easy connection hook up (speaker is thin–22awg, but color coded to make it a little easier and cleaner…lower gauge would be better, but I don’t know if I would notice). I am running a 52″ Toshiba Regza LCD, HD Receiver, LG BD700 Blu-ray, and a WII. Couldn’t be happier with the quality of picture and sound. Quick setup instructions were great…remote is easy and intuitive…on-screen programming was simple and easy. To top it all off, there is an IPOD dock that is somewhat integrated. On the remote are what is described as “Listening” settings. There is Movie/TV, Game, and two others. You can quickly stick in a movie, push the Movie/TV Listener button and quickly and simply choose the desired audio setting. There are numerous options, but get filtered when you choose Movie, Game, etc. Go ahead and buy at least one additional HDMI cable (from the Onkyo out to the TV….get it from Mediabridge….best buy)
Bottom line…this is a great system to buy, not to mention the price. I am sure you could buy a Denon or Yamaha receiver and some Klipsch or Polk speakers and spend 4 times the amount to impress your friends, but this is the system to buy if you want practical, value, quality and a good deal. Can’t go wrong. BTW, purchased from Vann’s through Amazon marketplace…great experience!

03|Feb|2010 4so I swooned over the 9100 and the thx certified sound, but the lack of ipod dock included and no speaker stands made me compromise on the sound for speaker stands and the ipod dock and cheaper, it still has the hi-def sound decoding .
so yea that is why i went with that

04|Feb|2010 5I have been using my Onkyo HT-S7200 for two weeks now, and I am HIGHLY impressed with the entire system. Sound quality is fantastic, the HDMI pass-through works like a charm (1080p and audio). The tallboy speakers are good looking with the black wooden design. Very large subwoofer really completes the sound as well.
The only downfall of this entire package is that the surround speakers are fairly large, so they aren’t easy to hide and can seem bulky if you are going to wall mount them. I personally used some Atlantic speaker stands with the double-sided tape (due to the positioning of the bracket on the speakers). Worked like a charm.
I would recommend this package to anyone looking for component quality without the inconvenience of trying to match up receivers and speaker packages.
