   Having tried these out for a short while I can tell you, save up a little more and get some Polks.

   I own the same model, except it has different letter model prefix. Product appearance in regards to exterior visual finish is mediocre. The inherrent value is found not in manufacturing achievement, or audio excellence compared to high priced esoteric speakers of which I also own, but in the value that these have in sound quality for such a low price.
   These have been used daily in my bedroom theatre for over 7 years and have been decent sounding and reliable at high listening levels. These speakers will not disapoint at price point compared to other chaff produced by large manufacturers at this price point such as bestbuy/circuit city etc. If you are looking for inexpensive speakers with high quality manufacturing and sound accuracy, purchase energy speakers for another $20. Energy is not discounted via mail order/internet, so you will have to go to authorized dealer.

   I am a stereophile. These are excellent speakers. For the price, they cannot be beat.

   I was so very impressed by the raving reports. But hearing is believing. Physically, well built! Mediocre sound. No comparison with a Yamaha half its size. No transparency (hallow colored sound), mediocre imaging. Bass booms at port resonance (can be cured by plugging the port with an old sock, but loose bass response). Not flat response. Good and tight mid and high range. You can get better sound for less if you go to a $80 Yamaha product. All together, not bad. Good try, but no cigar!

   These speakers are hands down worth every penny. One of the best bang for buck products I have used.

   When I set out to purchase these speakers I was looking for something to replace a set of Logitech Z-640 computer speakers. I was not hearing all of my music. I have a good quality Yamaha amp, so these fit the bill very well. I was looking for more accurate sound reproduction and better sound quality. I cannot say these speakers are audiophile grade, however, many audiophiles may be embarrassed picking these speakers in an A/B test over speakers 4 times the cost. These speakers are very efficient.

   These speakers are initially very bright, however It smoothes out quite a bit, to moderately bright, after break in time. In addition, the harsh edge of brightness was significantly improved with I changed my speaker wires from lamp wire to very high quality ($30 per wire) speaker wire.

   The 43 hz bass extension claim is too egar in my opinion. However, the bass it is by NO means lacking. The bass extension is prob around 47 - 45Hz. Remember, I am coming from a 5.1 audio system with a dedicated sub. The sound reproduction is FAR more accurate with the BICs than my Logitech Z-640s. The Bass is tight and Extremely well balanced. I have to get used to not having overly zealous bass since I no longer have a dedicated subwoofer.

   I have compared these speakers to the following doing an A and B tests:

   Logitech Z-640s - Garbage at best, compared to the Bics and I could never go back to listening to these after having the BICs. Extreamly boomy bass with un balanced sound.

   Sony SS-MB150H (older model of Sony SS-B1000) - Very very narrow and poor sound stage. No bass extension what so ever compared to the BICs.

   M-audio AV 40 - With the M-audio’s the highs were more clear and less bright/ harsh (however this was before the BICs were broken in, so take it as a grain of salt). The midranges were comparable and more pleasant to listen to on the BICs. When I comes to bass extension the AV40s failed miserably. Too much of the music’s lower extension of was just MISSING with the AV40s. This makes the BIC better Hands down with an over all better and more accurate sound reproduction.

   Bose 301 Series IV - these speakers can go lower than the BICs, HOWEVER, after listening and concentrating on the music the BOSE speakers were reproducing uncontrolled and boomy bass.

   Soliloquy 5.0 - these are a $900 pair of monitor speakers. The BIC are not better than these, however the $780 price difference is not justified. These speakers have clearer highs and better bass extension and is more controlled over all than the BICs.
